Launch Your Career in Milwaukee, Says LinkedIn

A recent analysis by LinkedIn’s Economic Graph team spotlighted Milwaukee, Wisconsin and 14 other U.S. cities for being especially well-suited for new grads—and anyone else looking to kick-start their career. Milwaukee, which is only 20 minutes east of Carroll's historic Waukesha, Wisconsin campus, placed second on the list based on the strength of its job market, affordable rents and good starting salaries.

Milwaukee ranked second in a new analysis by LinkedIn’s Economic Graph team ranking 15 U.S. cities that are especially well-suited for new grads.

The analysis coroborates other recent reports of Milwaukee's appeal to new graduates and its place as a hub for business start-up success. This is great news for the more than 700 members of the Carroll University Class of 2020 as they set off into the regional workforce. In fact, they're well positioned for career success with cities throughout the broader Midwest holding nine of the top 10 spots in the nation according to the LinkedIn Workforce Report standings.

Milwaukee is familiar territory for Carroll students—many of whom come from the region, and for those individuals who find internships, clinical placements, research opportunties, cross-cultural learning experiences (CCEs) and recreational activities within the city limits.

According to LinkedIn:

"Each city on the list offers a compelling blend of affordable housing—plus well-paying jobs that are within reach for recent grads. Leading job titles include software engineers, registered nurses and salespeople. Other common jobs include teachers, administrative assistants, project managers, analysts, research assistants, consultants and project engineers. The analysis weaves together LinkedIn data on local jobs with comprehensive Zillow Rentals data on housing costs."

The research states that the median monthly rent in Milwaukee is $1,072, while the median salary for starter jobs is $60,900.

The other cities rounding up the top five include St. Louis, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.
